Learning Objectives

What do you want students to know and be able to do? What knowledge, skills, and strategies do you expect students to gain?

  • Students will learn the process to use media technology in the classroom.
  • Students will create a film implementing the content learned.

Resources

Give multimedia title and link, plus any other resources you/your students will need to complete the lesson

  • animoto.com
  • schooltube
  • teachertube
  • computer, internet, camera

Lesson Overview

Explain what you / your students will do with the multimedia or information gained from the multimedia.  Things to consider:  How many days will this lesson take, how will students work (in teams? individually?), how will you distribute the multimedia to the students (will they subscribe on their home computers? school computers? or will you be using portable devices?) See the Instructional Planning

section below.

Tip: As part of whatever assignment you create, you might consider creating a "listening guide" that has questions the students should be answering as they listen to the multimedia. Or, you could have them summarize what they heard and then do something with that info.

Students will use knowledge gained throughout an entire unit and gather all main ideas and components to develop a final project demonstrating all key aspects of the unit.  Students will be able to use what they learned in multi media camp to create an animoto video using stills or a mini video using the Kodak camera while keeping in mind the sound, and filming techniques taught to incorporate the unit lesson material.  Students will work on project for an entire week on a daily basis in the computer lab.  Materials will be distributed on a daily basis and picked up on a daily basis as well. Pictures and videos from home will be allowed as well.

Lesson Directions

List explicit directions to the students that will get them successfully through the lesson

Students will use their detailed classroom notebooks to gather information from the lesson.

Students will use storyboard template of their choice to organize unit lesson material.

Students will use multi media technology to demonstrate a final product demonstrating all key points of the unit previously taught using various forms of interpretation, ie. acting, drawing, pictures, poems, stories.

Notes / Ideas / Suggestions from Group

As you share your ideas with the group, take note of any suggestions or ideas they have for you that you might wish to incorporate into this assignment.

Instructional Planning

Preparation

(What student needs, interests, and prior learning provide a foundation for this lesson? How can you find out if students have this foundation? What difficulties might students have?)

Management

(How and where will your students work? Classroom, lab, groups, etc?

Students will work in the computer lab because not all students have access to computers at home.

Differentiation

(How will you differentiate content and process to accommodate various learning styles and abilities? How will you help students learn independently and with others? How will you provide extensions and opportunities for enrichment? What assistive technologies will you need to provide?)

Students will be given the opportunity to work in groups and share aspects of the project that they feel most comfortable with, ie. writing, acting, filming.  Students will have a deadline and under specific situations, where proof that an extension is required, is provided

Closure and Reflection

(Will there be a closing event? Will students be asked to reflect upon their work? Will students be asked to provide feedback on the assignment itself? What will be your process for answering the following questions?

Did students find the lesson meaningful and worth completing?

In what ways was this lesson effective?

What went well and why?

What did not go well and why?

How would you teach this lesson differently?)

Impact on Student Learning

  • How did the multimedia impact student learning?
  • What student learning data did you collect?
  • Provide student learning data if possible.
